The Struggle Is Real

October 10, 2017

Wow! I did not know how difficult it is to actually make a nice and functional layout for the blog. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I have changed the entire layout of my blog since last week.

As a blog newbie, I am not aiming to blown your minds with my layout, all I want is an easily comprehensible page where it is easy for viewers to navigate.

In my very first layout, I was quite pleased with it. I finally managed to categorised all the different bits and bobs into clear headers. However, when I sent the link to my blog back home, most of my family members said that while it may be aesthetically pleasing, they do not know that they are required to click each picture to be brought into a new page and into my blog post. It was only after I forced them to skype with me as they go through my layout did I find out about this little error. I saw its little, but boy, did this gave me a headache trying to fix. One option was for me to manually go back to each post and edit the picture on a different site by layering a "Click Me" text.

At the same time, I also showed them some of my progress on Wordpress (Another blogger website which I am experimenting with), and most of them preferred that. They felt that the layout there was much more crisp. So I decided to put this website on hold and went back to working on Wordpress. 2 days later, I had enough. I cannot seem to wrap my head around it and it is simply so confusing. I even turn to the bible of solutions, Youtube, but for some reason what I was seeing does not match up to any of the online tutorials. By this point, I was ready to give up.

After hours of experimenting, I finally went back to Blogspot and settled for this current design. But even so, for some reason, if I do not include a picture in my post, my header does not seem to appear on my page.

So here is what I did:

(I included a small strip of band on the top of my page. At first, I put it in colour, but I realised it appears to messy on the homepage. So I swapped it to a plain white image. This way, it appears as if nothing is there at all as the background colour is already white.)

A little bit unconventional, but if anyone out there know a better solution, please let me know!
And for all those bloggers out there, I take my hat off to you. I dunno how you guys do it, but please give me your magic touch! God knows I need it.

Until my next ramblings,
Stef
