My Very First Entry
October 07, 2017
Ahh, this took forever to set up. For those of you that don't know me, let me give you a really brief introduction.
Hi, I'm a 21 years old art student, who was probably born in the w
hole generation because I am definitely not as tech savvy as my peers. But hey, I did somehow managed to make myself a blog, which I am quite pleased about.
Like any other 20th century kid, the first thing I did when I realised I had to forgo my handwritten journal and embrace this new foreign world of online journaling, was moan. Whyyyyy. With hardcopy journals, there is absolutely no limit on what you can or cannot do. The layouts are endless, the possibilities are immeasurable and the only limit is your creativity. Whereas here on the internet, I find myself working within a certain template and stuck behind certain fonts and style.
But with a world that is constantly shifting and expanding, one cannot be so static in her ways. Likewise, if I wanted to progress in this dynamic city, I had to change. So with that in mind, I was a girl on a mission, by the end of the day, I will have myself a blog! And here I am, 24 hours (or more like 48hours) later with a blog to call my own.
I probably could have set this blog up much faster, but I did not want something which is only temporary and fleeting. I wanted something a little more concrete and a platform to share my passion and craft with you. And as my Bio states, here you get the "raw uncut" version of the inner workings of my mind. So without further ado, here's what happened in the last 48hours.
To start of with, I searched up the different sites in which I could make a blog and I came across Wordpress, Blogspot and this another site called Workflow. So like any perfectionist, I gave all 3 a go.
Wordpress
A lovely site, but unless you get yourself a paid plan (Cheapest: 3 pounds/mnth), you are not given as much creativity to change and play up your layout. And since I am still quite new to this, I am not quite ready to reach into my savings. I know 3 pounds a mouth is not much, but I could get 5 donuts for that and my tummy ain't ready to take that commitment just yet.
Workflow
By far the easiest to work with in my opinion, but also the least flexible. The layouts are simple, the instructions and clear and you cannot really go wrong with it.
Theoretically, a dream for beginners like me, but aesthetically, an artist nightmare.
That being said, I'm still gonna work with platform, but I'll be focusing more on contextual studies, aka the 'boring' stuff, on that side and separate from here. It is definitely better if you are looking for a temporary, quick share platform, but I do not think it is something you can grow. I feel that once I start putting more things there, it will started to get cluttered and messy as the grouping and categorising is not as efficient as the other 2 mentioned platforms.
Blogspot
If Workflow was the easiest, I would say Blogspot is the hardest. It definitely took me the longest to get around, but I hope I made it such that it is easy for viewers to navigate. I could give you the whole breakdown of how I did it, but I think I have rambled on for far too long already.
With that, I wish you best of luck in your adventures.
Till my next rambling,
Stef
